The green indicator appears when the camera is NOT in use

Hello. I am using iPhone XS, iOS 14.3. There is the following problem. When you press the side button of the phone to unlock the screen, the camera usage indicator sometimes turns green. Face ID is disabled on the phone and access to the camera is blocked on all third-party applications. How do I explain the inclusion of the camera usage indicator?

Hello Mihail_B,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you are getting the green dot indicating camera usage when you wake your iPhone. You have Face ID disabled and camera access blocked on all third party apps. We would recommend swiping down from the upper right to reach the Control Center to view which app has been using the Camera.

Control access to hardware features on iPhone

"Whenever an app uses the camera (including when the camera and microphone are used together), a green indicator appears. Also, a message appears at the top of Control Center to inform you when an app has recently used either."

That should provide you with the information you need to figure out which app was using the camera. If not, we would suggest taking a look at the following article to first see what apps were used most recently by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and pausing slightly in the middle of the screen.

If that doesn't give you a clue about what app is using the camera, you can then try quitting all of the recently used apps using that article, prior to allowing the phone to shut down and see if that makes a difference.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards.
