Magic Mouse Charge Level Indicator

On my Mac, when I wish to find the amount of charge in my Magic Mouse indicated by a percentage, it will not display if I simply select the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar in the upper right corner. Nor will it display if I simply select the Bluetooth icon in System Preferences. The only time that a percentage amount will display for my Magic Mouse is if I first select Bluetooth in System Preferences, leave it on display, and then, simultaneously, select the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar in the upper right hand corner. Don't know why this is. My guess it's a glitch, but I've been having problems with the new Big Sur update, generally. Interested to know if this works for others. Sorry for the emphasis, but the problem is odd and I wanted to be clear. Peace.
