iPhone 12 Pro: alarm on screen, but not sounding

Hello,

In the last couple of months, I've had two occurrences where my alarms on my iPhone 12 did not sound. When I checked my phone, the alarm shows on the screen with the 'Snooze' and 'Dismiss' buttons, but there is no sound and no vibration. As I start work at 4 in the morning, this is quite a big issue for me!

When I go to bed, I play an audiobook on Audible with a 30 minute sleep timer, and also run the Sleep Cycle app in the background with the screen locked. On both occasions when my alarm failed to sound, when I went to stop Sleep Cycle there was an error message saying the app could not access the phone's microphone. This error message apparently occurred some time during the night, since I do not get it when I start the app's sleep monitoring.

I am running iOS 14.2.

Any suggestions welcomed. Thank you!

If we understand your post correctly, the alarm on your iPhone doesn't sound and the phone doesn't even vibrate when the alarm goes off. Also, you received an error message on your sleep app that says could not access the phones microphone. We're happy to help!

Did you check the mute button on the side of your phone to see if it is enabled and that is why there is no sound?

Have you restarted your phone since this started happening?

Restart your iPhone

Have you also checked to make sure that the mute button on the left side of your phone isn't enabled?
