Thunderbolt Display with Mac Mini M1?

I recently got a 2020 Mac Mini with the M1 chip. I am trying to use it with a Thunderbolt A1407 display. I bought Apple's adapter (TB 3 to TB 2 just like what apple's website says to do for Mac Minis) to do this and it worked great for two days but it suddenly stopped working after it went to sleep. It will not wake up the monitor and nothing gets the monitor and mac mini to communicate. After testing different options, I thought the adapter might be bad so I ordered a new one. No luck. I know the monitor works because it works fine with different devices both with and without the adapter. So, the adapter works too. I also know the Mac Mini works because when I use the HDMI port and plug it into a TV, it works just fine.

I just don't understand why it would work great for two days and then suddenly stop. I updated OS to be the most current and still nothing. HELP!

Mac mini, macOS 11.0

First, try booting into safe mode (hold down the shift key when starting up).

This will do two things, flush out any accumulated "junk" and disable any

third party products that load at boot.

If unsuccessful, try booting into recovery mode

How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

If the display comes up then, then reinstall macOS. The update may

have possibly even faulty and a full re-install may be necessary.
