adding group name to text

Just to be sure check for software updates to be sure you're on the latest software. After that go messages, open the group chat, hit the picture or pictures, then you'll see three icons hit the one on the right side it will have a i and say info below it, then it'll show the names and pictures of the contacts and below that it will say change name and photo.

The OP isn't seeing the option because you can't name a group MMS only a group imessage where everyone is using an Apple device.
