Hello Techgal12,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you want to prohibit phone calls from going to your iPad. You can do this by removing your phone number from your iPad. Check out article: Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime.
Also, on your iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices, then turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices (or just disable the devices you don't want to be receiving calls). More about that feature here: Make and receive calls on your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch
As for your AirPods, it sounds like you may be running into an issue with the auto switching feature that's covered in article: Switch AirPods between iPhone and other devices. With your AirPods connected, go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the "i" next to your AirPods and then tap "Connect to This iPhone", then "When Last Connected to This iPhone".
Hope this helps!
