Why does my artwork and information disappear?

I've had this music on my computer for at least 6 years now and after the last update my artwork and information has all disappeared? WHY!!?? I still have the artwork in my folder but I can no longer connect to it as the radio button for artwork under album information is no longer active, it's grayed out. All the album and artist information has been removed from the album information, they are now blank.

The empty corrupt library did not work, all it did was remove every playlist I had and other songs disappeared. All the new music was showing as they needed to be downloaded. I removed the (Corrupt) to restore playlist and add back my songs.

The-most irritating part is that iTunes grays out the radio button and will not allow to add the album artwork I have in my iTunes artwork folder back to the song file

I’m not sure what worked but here’s what I did. I connected my iPod to my computer to reconnect with iTunes. My artwork still wasn’t showing but I read in another thread about certain options not being in some areas. I then went to my list of songs and there was two listings for my song, one with the artwork and information one without, I deleted the one without keeping the sound file just in case and my artwork was back.

I'm not sure if the original was restored from my iPod or was always there and a duplicate file was created by iTunes when it updated and then given priority over the other file causing the grayed out button but I have my artwork back.
