Today our Homepod and Homepod Mini has stopped playing news updates. For example we ask "Hey Siri play the latest news from LBC" which has always worked but stopped today, Why?. We tried "Sky" "BBC" still no good.
Try restarting it:
Open the Home App - go to the Room it’s in
Long press on the HomePod icon to bring up settings, scroll down to the gear icon, tap that, scroll to the bottom to Reset HomePod - then select Restart HomePod

I have just updated my iPhone's IOS to 14.4 and this appears to have solved these problems. The radio now plays the station I request i.e. LBC, Talk Radio, Smooth Radio etc, also I can request news updates from LBC, Sky, etc.
I just wish when problems are identified a clear statement from Siri would explain "We are experiencing problems at the moment and cannot execute your request" rather than leaving us to presume it's a hardware/WiFi issue. This only leads to dissatisfaction of the product and service.
Power cycle your HomePods and router, then try again.

"Hey Siri, play the news" does not work, prompted with "sorry, you don’t have any unplayed episodes of BBC news.”
"Hey Siri, play BBC news" works!?!
Try this::
For news: “Hey Siri, give me the news” In my case it’ll give me CBC or CNN. Oddly, if I ask, “Hey Siri, play CNN News” it’ll give me that no unplayed episode response.
For radio: “Hey Siri, play radio station <name of the station>“
Install the TuneIn Radio app. It takes its feed some times from there..
This error just corrected its self after 1 week. Not matter how many times I tried to restart, reset, create a new home and setup again and again just wouldn’t work. Then one morning to our surprise all back and working. Must be an apple issue at the Siri server end and they fixed it. Now fix it for everybody else apple!
Try Asking Siri “Add News to my updates”
It now seems to work if I just say “hey Siri, play the news”
Are people finding this issue is resolved for them, as I’ve had this issue for about a fortnight now and it still hasn’t resolved.
Asking HomePod mini ‘what’s the news' brings up ‘Here’s the latest news from the BBC ... sorry you don’t have any unplaced episodes of BBC News'. Variations such as 'play the news' or 'play news from the BBC' has the same effect. However requesting the same on the iPhone and iPad both work fine and will play the bulletin.
I can however get the HomePod Mini to play news from Sky by asking 'Play the latest news from Sky', but BBC is my preferred provider.
Power cycles of pod and router don’t help, and I did a full reset today but still the same behaviour.

Use Feedback - HomePod - Apple to let Apple know this is happening. The more reports they get the more likely it is that they will fix it.

Yes we have four HomePods, two minis and two originals. All have stopped presenting the news, its is not a power cycle issue or reset problem. It was a daily routine listening to the news, it now just says no more episodes available after attempting to play BBC/SKY etc.
Tried resetting the HomePod several times still did not work. As for working now? No chance. I have used the term “Hey Siri, play The BBC News (Sky News)”. As I have always done. The response I get from Siri is “Now playing BBC news”. Then an apology saying I have unplayable episodes of news available. So in short, it’s not fixed in anyway. Is there a way of letting Apple know directly?
