There IS no red button! Neither do News app ‘Following’ changes have any effect. Please provide an answer that’s effective for iOS 14.3 a/o Jan 2021, not outdated info.

Hi mbin,

We see you're looking for steps on how to remove the News widget from your iPhone's Home Screen. We can understand wanting to manage that as expected, and we'd be happy to help provide the needed info.

To start, you can find the details on how to remove a widget here: Use widgets on your iPhone and iPod touch

The 'Remove widgets' section will be towards the bottom. If you're not seeing this option when following those steps, start by trying a standard restart, to refresh the device: Restart your iPhone

If you continue to not see the option, there may be either some restrictions, or a profile/Mobile Device Management affecting things. Check for any profiles in Settings > General > Profiles (or Mobile Device Management). If neither option shows up, this usually means you don't have any installed. You can check for restrictions in Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.

Take care.
