I'd been listening to my relatively new iPod Classic 160GB for awhile, walked over to the dock to look at the display

I'd been listening to my iPod Classic 160GB for awhile, & walked over to the dock to identify the song that had just played. When I touched the click wheel to make the screen illuminate, it just went dead. It is a new iPod, purchased over eBay from a vendor in China, and had been performing normally. I have used it only infrequently since I got it, less than a year ago. The dock that I use also keeps the iPod battery charged.

How can I bring my iPod Classic 160GB back to life? It's not frozen; it is "dead." I've tried recharging it, & tried holding the center button & menu for several seconds, but nothing happens. The screen remains black.

HELP, Please!

Toggle the hold switch on and off a few times, then try holding down menu and select for six seconds to see if you can get the device to restart. If not leave it off charge for 24 hours, then try charging again to see if it will reset as it starts charging.

Wait longer before putting the device on charge again. Perhaps it is thrashing around with no display but hasn't actually managed to discharge the battery yet. Of course it could have simply died. That can happen. If you've nothing left to lose you could move on to https://oldblog.joshhighland.com/2006/03/29/fix-your-ipod-by-spanking-it/ or look for a local repair shop that handles iPod classics.
