When I save an excel file on desktop it doesn't use the normal file icon. Excel for Mac 16.45, Mac OS Catalina. How can I change it back to the normal green excel icon

Try again: use the button image insertion at the bottom (look at the bottom right)
Thanks that worked. So the icon consists of some of the text from the file. Not the end of the world to use that but doesn't stick out very good.
