How can I purchase albums in Music on an iMac?

I have Catalina on my late-2013 iMac, and my Music version is 1.0.6.10. And I have an Apple Music account. I'm trying to purchase a few albums from the iTunes Store, but I see no way to do it. My interface in Music is not as described on the Apple support page that shows a menu bar to the upper right.

The bar at the upper right should appear if you click in the search box at the top of the sidebar on the left. That is described in the excerpt below from Buy music from the iTunes Store - Apple Support

  1. Open the Apple Music app.
  2. Use the Search bar to find the song or album that you want to buy.
  3. Click the iTunes Store button in the upper-right corner. Don't see the iTunes Store?
