Big Sur sync with iPhone

After I upgraded to Big Sur, I cannot sync my iPhone and iPad with my iMac. I open Music and plug in the iPhone and I get a message that indicates "File Not Found". What an I doing wrong?

Hello Martin Goldstein,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

We know it's important to have your iPhone and iPad syncing with your iMac. We'll be glad to assist you.

To begin, you mentioned that you opened the Music app to try to sync your iPhone. With macOS Catalina, as well as with macOS Big Sur, you'll be using the Finder app to sync your iPhone with your computer. Check out this article for step by step instructions to follow to use Finder: Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer.

If the issue persists, try testing this issue in a new administrator account on your Mac. Sometimes user specific permission issues may keep the software from properly loading, and temporarily creating a new user, then testing may help. Here's how to set up a test administrator account: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

If the same issue is present in the test user account, on your iPhone and iPad, reset the location and privacy. Then plug in the iPhone again. This will prompt you to trust the computer again.

Let us know the result.

Take care.

Thanks for the advice.

I tried everything in the article, but every time that I plug my iPhone into the computer I get a message that says "The file can't be found". I assume that this pertains to the iPhone. I am the only user on this computer so there is only one administrator account. Both devices have latest software,

Anything else I should try?
