Captions on images in Pages

Place an image on your page and make sure it's selected (ie the resizing handles are visible round the edges):

Tick the box that says "Caption":

This will give you a text box with a default style of Object Caption. The box will be linked to the image and will move around the page with it. Type your caption into it.

If you want you can select your caption text and modify the font and size:

Once you're happy with this you can update your document styles to match your selected text:

The image caption capability was introduced with Pages v10.1

And why Apple chose a centered caption is beyond me… It does respond to the text alignment buttons, which is an extra step.

Proof that the template approach works with the image set as placeholder media and Caption left-justified…🤓

Hi jdjacob,

If your version of Pages does not have the Caption feature, use a text box grouped with the image.

Experiment with Object Placement and Text Wrap to achieve your aim.

A good argument for setting up one's own templates. But yes - maybe someone thought it looked stylish.
