Mac Pro won't connect to my 2.4 ghz band wifi.

When I don't have 5ghz setup I can connect to the 2.4ghz band. But once I setup the dual band 2.4/5ghz, it no longer can connect to the 2.4ghz. It asks for the password then will sit there with the spinning wheel only to inform me it cannot be connected. I did a hard reset of my Time machine, my macbook pro can connect to both so I know they're working. Any ideas?

Mac Pro, macOS 10.15

Delete the settings for WiFi means........

Open System Preferences

Open Network

Click on WiFi on the left panel

Click Advanced at the lower right of the window

Click on the name of the WiFi network to highlight it

Click the minus button at the bottom of the list

Click OK

Click Apply in the next window

Restart the Mac at this point since it will still likely retain the old data for the network until you do so.

This will delete all data associated with that WiFi network so you can set up a new connection on the Mac.

Delete the settings for the wireless network on the Mac Pro in System Preferences / Network

Then, restart the Mac Pro and have it connect to the WiFi network again

I'm not clear on whether you have both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals on the Time Capsule set up to use the same wireless network name......or......whether you have configured the Time Capsule to use a separate name for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.

Separate names is the only way that you can tell a Mac which network to connect to. If you don't use separate names for the two signals, the Mac will connect to 5 GHz if it is close to the Time Capsule and to 2.4 GHz if it is located a few rooms away from the Time Capsule.

Most users want their computer to connect to the 5 GHz signal, because that signal is usually much faster and much less likely to have an interference issue with another nearby signal.

Not sure why you would want to have the MacPro connect to 2.4 GHz if that is your goal.....unless......the Mac is located 3-4 rooms away from the WiFi router, in which case the 2.4 GHz signal would be stronger......but much slower.....than the 5 GHz signal.
