Apple Watch Not Tracking Fitness+ Workouts Correctly

Super frustrated - I have known for some time that my Apple Watch doesn't track my workout time accurately. (I'll go for a 30 minute walk, and get 15 minutes of workout time.) And yes, I am starting and stopping my workouts in the Workout app on the Watch - still doesn't work.

But I would think that the Fitness+ workout time would be accurate - but no, it isn't. Did 20 minutes of workouts yesterday and got credit for 12 minutes of workouts on my rings. The inaccuracy makes me crazy. Anyone got a solution to this issue, other than forgoing the Watch and tracking on another device?

Hey there Dean3000,

We understand your Apple Watch is not tracking your workout time as you'd expect. We'll be happy to help.

To troubleshoot this, we'd recommend going through the steps here: Get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch

This will guide you through configuring your watch to ensure it gets the most accurate readings possible.

Note that in step two it states "every full minute of movement that equals or exceeds the intensity of a brisk walk counts toward your daily Exercise and Move goals."

This means that if any minute of exercise was not at a brisk pace the entire time, that minute will not count towards the goals.

If you still experience issues with this, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly for next steps. Use this link: Get Support

Cheers!

To earn 1 minute of exercise credit(green ring);

Travel a full minute at a brisk walking pace 3.3 mph or 18 minutes per mile approx.

or 5.3kph or 11.3 minutes per kilometer.

Raise your heart rate to approx 75% of your maximum.

When you're at around or above this heart rate and speed for the entire minute you'll receive 1 exercise minute credit.

If you pause or slow down during this minute then you won't get any exercise credit for that minute.
