Microsoft may need to tweak their Spotlight support in One Drive, especially for Big Sur, as it is their responsibility to make it compatible. They may have changed something that is now causing your issues with Spotlight.
Alternatively, you may want to look at Find Any File in the Mac App Store. I believe there is a free trial from the developer's website before you consider a purchase.
What syntax are you using in Finder to perform a One Drive search that doesn't find what you are seeking?
no it doesnt find it -
to be clear - its not that i lost a file, I can enter onedrive shortcut on mac and manually scroll down and find the folders i need amongs 5000 clients but this not right. Before BigSur search in finder was able to locate any client whereas since upgrading search doesnt work for most folders and i have to find manually by srcolling amongst the 5000 folders to find it
thank you
done that, started finding files at search but not all
syntax?
i use file number of my client (eg 94509) -- this was working before BigSur -- never worked with id/tel number anyway (as windows does)
Are you using name:94509 from the Finder search window to locate any filename with the string 94509 in its name?
if i understood well your question
in search i just put the number 94509
Use the Spotlight reserved keyword as in the following Finder Window search field:
spotlight locates the folder but it shoes is empty ie no excel file in
if choosing the spreadsheet from the spotlight search of the same file it says error 43 and it doesnt open it
Do you find it with this sequence:
kind:microsoft +.xlsx name:94509
The -43 error is simply a file not found condition.
thank you for trying hard to assist me
You are welcome.
