new macbook pro M1—music app does not work

Hello, I migrated TO a new MacBook Pro FROM my Late 2013 MacBook Pro running Catalina; on the new device, launching the Music app does nothing. I can launch individual music tracks by double clicking on them in Finder but that's it; there is no "app" on the desktop. Can someone provide guidance here? I thought that a new MacBook would be able to run a basic Music app?!? Thanks in advance.
