When I play music (doesn’t matter which app, Spotify or something else), sometimes my iPhone stops the music when I open an other app. I’ve searched for the reason and a solution, but didn’t find it.
I recently bought an Iphone 12 pro, before I had an Iphone 8 plus and then I didn’t had that problem.

i tried to restart my phone but it didn’t help. It is running the latest ios 14.3. I tried using Spotify and the app ‘radio belgium’, the music stops with both apps, either online or downloaded offline.
I am having the exact same problem with Spotify and Apple Music. My phone is an IPhone 12 Pro, everything is updated and I’ve turned on/off the phone. Doesn’t matter if I’m streaming or playing from stored files on the phone.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with music playing on your iPhone when you open another app. We'd like to help.
Let's get to the bottom of why this is happening. Have you tried to Restart your iPhone yet? Does the issue continue after you do that? Is it running the most updated iOS? Currently, that is iOS 14.3. If it's not, we recommend that you Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Then tell us more about the music you're playing. Are you using Apple Music, Spotify, and/or something else? Is the music downloaded to your device or streaming over the internet?
Let us know and we'll go from there.

It appears that this is currently isolated to these 3rd party apps. Are you able to test this issue with Apple Music? If it continues to only affect Spotify and Radio Belguim, this resource can help:
