System Storage "Other"

My iPhone 7 storage is full. It is a 32G phone, but 17.7GB is being consumed by "other system data". This seems excessive, but there does not seem to be a way to manage this. I deleted my safari data cache...this did nothing. Help!!

It depends on what apps you use. It may ie genuine data not in any category.

If you already updated ios, the only other option now is

Backup and restore

(1) How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch – Apple Support

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Set aside an evening to do this
