Texting using secondary sim

I can’t seem to send text messages using my secondary sim card. I tried choosing a friend that I had never texted before and it let me choose which sim card to text, however, if I choose a friend that I have sent messages to before using the primary sim, there isn’t a button for me to choose my secondary sim. How should I solve this problem?

iPhone 11, iOS 14

Hi Chi_29,

Thanks for the post! It sounds like you want to know how to switch between your two SIM cards when using the Messages app. Is that right?

From your description, you may want to start by reviewing the default line settings for some of your contacts. This should explain the behavior you mentioned: Using Dual SIM with two nano-SIM cards

"Let your iPhone remember which number to use

When you call one of your contacts, you don't need to choose which number to use every time. By default, your iPhone uses the same number that you used the last time you called that contact. If you haven't called that contact, your iPhone uses your default number. If you want to, you can specify which number to use for your calls with a contact. Follow these steps:

  1. Tap the contact.
  2. Tap Preferred Cellular Plan.
  3. Tap the number you want to use with that contact."

Let us know if that helps. Take care.
