move pics to different album

can I move photos between albums? For example, when thinning out the album "screen shots" I want to move some to an appropriate folder but when I add it to the new album, it still shows up in screen shots.

Hi Jillian,

It sounds like you're trying to manage albums and we can help.

While you can move Screenshots into different albums, they will remain classified under the media type of Screenshots.

Take the steps here to organize your Photos library:

Create albums in Photos on Mac

Best of luck.

EDITED TO CORRECT FILENAME INFO

Screenshots is one of the "automatic" albums (like smart albums)

It is automatically populated based on the characteristics of a file - in this case, by having the word "screenshot" in a user comment in the exif data.

The only way to remove it from that album will be to remove that exif data - which can't be done in photos.
