Apple's Puma can't run in Virtualbox. Sorry.

If you want to run Puma, you will need a computer that was available at the time of Puma.

Puma is very limited in its compatibility as it is, and should only be considered for curiosity testing.

10.1.5 was the first version of Puma that had a Repair Permissions utility that can resolve permissions issues that come from switching back and forth with Mac OS 9 and Classic.

The first truly usable Mac OS system that will run on a Mac that supports Puma is Mac OS X 10.2.8, Jaguar. Disk Utility incorporates the repair permissions, and is the first system that PowerPC Mac OS X applications gained widespread acceptance. Be mindful if the Mac got a firmware update that made it 10.2.8 compatible.

Macs can only run the system that came with them and newer ones, except the transition period that included Classic, and even then the Mac OS 9 version was at the time of the machine's release.
