Why are the volume buttons non-responsive after use of the silent mode switch?

If I switch my phone to the silent mode at bedtime, the next morning I find I can neither turn the phone's volume up or down after switching off the silent mode. I have an iphone se which I only purchased a month ago. The update is current.

iPhone SE, iOS 14

Hey there Pamache,

Based on your post it sounds like you're having trouble using your volume buttons after using the Silent switch over night. Is that correct?

How long has this been an issue?

What do you have to do to restore functionality back to the volume buttons?

Are you able to test after restarting the device?

If you navigate to Settings > Sounds & Haptics, does the issue continue with "Change with Buttons" enabled and disabled?

Take a look at the resources below and keep us updated.

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

If a button or switch isn't working on your iPhone or iPad

Cheers!
