iMessage NOT syncing across iPhone and MacBook Air
For some reason my iMessage just started not syncing to my MacBook Air. I can 'send' iMessages but not receive on my MacBook Air.

Hi there, ToddAfrica.
It appears that messages on your iPhone aren't appearing on your MacBook Air. You're able to send iMessages, but you can't send SMS/MMS messages from your Mac, and we're glad to provide assistance.
How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac - Apple Support -- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. On your Mac, open Messages and choose Messages > Preferences > iMessages. Make sure that both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID. Then, on your iPhone, go back one screen and check Text Message Forwarding to make sure your Mac has been selected. If it is, deselect your Mac and restart your iPhone. Once it's back to the Home screen, turn Text Message Forwarding back on for your Mac and test the issue.
Feel free to get back to us with any questions or problems you may have.
All the best.
Worked for me! Thanks so much :)
Fantastic, thanks dpaik! same results for me here in 2022, not syncing old messages but at least all the new ones. Was getting a bit frustrated there.
Iphone not sync with MacBook air on receiving messages
Me, too!
Thanks, bro. It works!
The solution by @Skotch worked for me.
so I just saw that my messages are not the same as they are on my phone and how do I fix that so I can see it on my MacBook Pro?
ToddAfrica, I am having the exact same problem. Just converted everything to Apple after 20 years on Windows. Very disappointing. I am grateful that you are pursuing this.
Thank you so much. This issue has been irking me for a while. This worked!!
Awesome. If you don’t mind marking as correct answer (maybe you did already but it didn’t update) that way others can see it first.
I have the same problem. Sad to hear there's no workaround for this.
This is also what worked for me ... I had already done everything on my own except this one step which turned out to be the key activity: deselecting the MacBook Air (iPhone: Settings: Messages: Text Message Forwarding: deselect the computer), restart the iPhone, then go back to same Settings on iPhone and (re)select the MacBook.
Previously missed messages were not synced :( but new messages are :)
Even after my initial success with the "You can receive..." entries (see my 9/9/21 posting), I still had this happen between iPhone and Mac. So this trick is still not 100% effective. I think this is some bug in the complex interactions between devices and iCloud and Apple just needs to investigate more and keep improving it.
