Converting Numbers File to Excel so a PC can open it; formatting is all funky when opened on PC

I am trying to convert a Numbers File from my MacBook Air to a file that a Microsoft PC user can open on their computer. I have tried exporting it via Excel, then when I upload the converted file to my google drive it the format changes completely and it looks funky. Any tips? Thanks! (new user)

I just tried it. You won't like it. It offsets the tables diagonally so each table uses different columns and rows from all others.

If you need to export to Excel and you want al lthe tables on one worksheet in Excel, you need to design as if in Excel, as limiting as that is. That means one table on the sheet that contains everything.

Excel is not Numbers and Numbers is not Excel. Importing and exporting gets the gist of it across but there are so many differences, you can't expect it to look exactly the same. It is best to stick to defaults and simple formatting if you need to export to Excel. With that said, "looks funky" is not descriptive enough for anyone to be able to provide much help. Screen shots of the Numbers and Excel versions of your document would help.

It appears to be the settings you chose for export. It looks like you chose one worksheet per table, not one worksheet per sheet. You also chose to have a summary table, which is what your screenshot is showing.

It has been a long time since I exported to Excel. Excel has monolithic worksheets so, when you export your document as one worksheet, it is probably going to align all of the columns of your various tables. An Excel worksheet is one huge table so you cannot have multiple tables with different width columns on one worsheet. I'm not really sure what the result will look like.

Looking at this again, I should also mention that checkboxes are not supported in Excel, they will be replaced with TRUE and FALSE. If designing in Numbers for export to Excel, you will want to avoid checkboxes. You can have the user type an X or something instead and change your formulas to accommodate that.

If any of the cells have popup menus, those are not supported in Excel either (it does drop down menus using a different method).

If the PC users need the ability to read and write in the version of the document sent to them, you'd be best to, as suggested above, create the original using Excel and avoiding the conflict of functions leading to the changes you see.

If the recipients need only to be able to Read the exported document, you might try exporting your Numbers document to PDF format or using the PDF button in the Print dialogue to 'print' it as a PDF file.

I do appreciate the quick response! I do apologize as well for my lack of information. "Funky" meant, I have my Numbers File with all customized cell boxes placed in areas that cosmetically look appealing. When I click Export to Excel; that file after being exported - I then upload it to Google Drive. PC users are stating that when they open it they see this:

Hope this is better! Thanks!
