Thank you. I am confused by a support article referring to instances in which a blank screen occurs when attempting to update, and then the user is unable to restart the computer. I am hesitating to upgrade since I can ill afford losing access to my computer.
Thanks for providing the article. I was not aware of that, so I would suggest that you hold-off upgrading unless you have some "dire" need to do so ... at least, that is what I would do if having your notebook running is critical to you.
You also have a few options, and one of them would be to install macOS Big Sur on an external drive. When you want to try out Big Sur, just boot up from that drive.
Sorry, I don't have a 2013 MacBook Pro lying around to give this a try for you as I would have been happy to "sacrifice" it for the purpose of "science." ;)
Think of getting the latest technology is like standing in front of a speeding train ... sometimes it's worth waiting a bit to catch one of the following train cars instead. Just saying.
I failed to provide the link to the article... https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211242.
Thank you. No dire needs... I think I will hold out for awhile. I'm aware that these upgrades often improve security, so try to do so once I determine there are no corresponding technical issues.
