LBC on HomePod

Hey Sir Play:

• LBC UK : "Now playing LBC News uk provided by TuneIn"
• LBC London: "I didn't find LBC london on Apple music"
• LBC Manchester: "Here's LBC News Manchester provided by TuenIn"
• LBC radio: "Now playing LBC News UK provided by Tune in"

• Download Global Player app and select LBC, Stream to homepod: Cuts out after a few minutes >:o(
• Play app directly from phone - Yay ! it works. - Not exactly the audio experience i'd hope for, but at least the homepod looks pretty.

i have a fix ask for LBC Manchester you get the programmes different regional traffic etc

This is still an issue… I don’t want LBC news or whatever else it wants to interpret me saying. Siri is so so poor compared to Alexa. Only way for me to use my not so smart HomePod is to AirPlay from my iPhone. Annoying and not good enough

I have raised this with LBC directly who are aware there is an issues with Apple Homepod and Global player, whereby only LBC News works. They have an outstanding development call with Apple apparently

As another user suggested, ask for LBC Manchester - that works for me

LBC is now working properly on HomePods

not sure how long its been working but certainly since this Tuesday 06/04/21

Doesn't work for me. I used to regularly listen to James O'Brien in the morning by saying "Hey Siri, Play LBC Radio". Now I just get LBC news or nothing at all.

A tedious workaround is to run up the app on an iPhone and then AirPlay it to HomePod speakers. A bit of a pain in the neck to do that, though.

I tried this and Siri responded: "the app hasn't added support for that with Siri"

I suspect Apple just haven't paid for a license and LBC are now charging £7.99 a month if you want to use the Tune-in app to play to speakers.

It's a couple of years since LBC updated their web page on listening with a smart speaker, but they have very little to say about HomePod.

Things are afoot, as the iPhone app is now warning that an account/login will soon be required.

These are all precisely the responses I get too. ‘Play LBC UK’ used to be enough to get the right station but suddenly last week it all changed. I can workaround by connecting on TuneIn on my phone and then AirPlaying to the HomePod Mini but the problem then is that the signal cuts out frequently, same as with any other content I try to play over AirPlay. I’ve only had the darn thing a few weeks and am just about ready to throw in the towel.
