Hey Sir Play:

  • LBC: "Here's the latest News from Global"
  • LBC UK : "Now playing LBC News uk provided by TuneIn"
  • LBC London: "I didn't find LBC london on Apple music"
  • LBC Manchester: "Here's LBC News Manchester provided by TuenIn"
  • LBC radio: "Now playing LBC News UK provided by Tune in"

  • Download Global Player app and select LBC, Stream to homepod: Cuts out after a few minutes >:o(
  • Play app directly from phone - Yay ! it works. - Not exactly the audio experience i'd hope for, but at least the homepod looks pretty.

siri play lbc radio returned lbc news for me this week.

on my iPhone lbc uk radio has no sound so air play doesn’t work either.

really annoying.

Hey Siri play talk radio is still working ok though.

i wonder if I can build a shortcut that’ll play lbc before 10 and then talk radio after if I ask for either station with bonus points for auto turning over to talk radio if playing lbc at 10am.

I know the feeling. My other half is an Apple fan hence the home pods and hates the idea of google in the house on a security basis but I've got so mad that I'm buying a mini google pod just so I can listen to the radio. Got one in our Airbnb and it plays everything easily. It can even play any Radio 1 or 2 - something HomePod also refuses to do. So in the end sounding radio is better than no radio. It's a talk station after all and I really don't need the bass notes in Nick Ferraris's voice!

Yeah I've got two in my bedroom they're great for morning radio and I use Airfoil to push music to all Airplay devices in my house. But I've got a PowerNode 2i in the lounge and Homepods in the Kitchen and Garage and a pair of KRK VXT4s in the office.

So the minis are almost a novelty that means I can still hear the music when I go to my bedroom for something. They don't really fit in with the rest of the house.

I can't see why Apple would stay with them and not the Homepod other than I guess sales figures aren't making it viable.

Still we can all go look for Alexa alternatives now and our Siri problems are solved.
