Apple TV control button is on phone but continues to ask to type in code to tv when I cannot access settings due to not having a remote

Cannot connect phone Apple TV control to TV because it’s asking to apply a code to the tv which I can’t since I have no remote how do I punch the code into my phone and connect

How do I enter the code on my Apple TV when I can’t get to the settings function on the tv since I don’t have the remote that enables me to do that? I’m obviously missing something. How do I get to the settings icon on my tv to set up iPhone operation of my Apple TV when I’m only using my iPhone in the first place because I lost the remote provided with the Apple TV. Seems not to make sense. You go to your phone to set up phone remote and then get a 4 digit code you’re supposed to be entering in the settings function of your Apple TV. But if I could get to the settings function, I wouldn’t need to set up the phone remote in the first place. What am I missing?

How do i connect to apple tv with no remote I just revelry found a apple tv gen 2 and there’s no remote for it whenever I try to connect my phone to use the remote it asks me to go to settings and get a code but i can’t because there is no remote for me to do this.

You need to get a remote replacement.
