Update Apple ID settings.

yesterday I changed my email address for my Apple ID as I don’t have access to that email anymore as it was an old email address of my mothers. I changed it to my email address obviously incase I ever need it.

on my online Apple log in my updated email is there....

on my iPhone where it says in settings my new email is there. But there’s a notification asking me to update Apple ID settings & when I go to do so, it’s my old email address that shows up and it just asks for a password and it’s not accepting the correct password presumably as the email address is different!

i haven’t been given an option to change email address and as my email has updated both on my phone and on the Apple site I don’t understand or know how to fix this....

please can someone be of help

thankyou Vanessa

Hello Vanessa,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities, from your post it sounds like the previous Apple ID is showing up in Settings and your'e unable to update it. We'll do what we can to help.

It's always recommended to sign out of areas before changing your Apple ID. You could try signing out now from your iPhone then signing back in with the new Apple ID to see if the alert goes away then restart your iPhone:

  1. Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac
  2. Restart your iPhone

Have a great day.

Update Apple ID settings.
