How do I repair my ADFS startup drive running Mohave that Disk Utility will not repir?

My hard drive started being terribly sluggish. Tried to run Disk Utility both from a external Mohave startup disk and within my internal startup running Mohave with the same result. Disk Utility finds dozens of issues with the Extent check. Disk Utility finishes like it is OK but says it can't repair theses issues. Now my Time Machine stays on Preparing Backup and never changes. Time Machine says it completed the last backup several days ago before I noticed any problems. Pre Mohave and APFS I used Disk Warrior to fix these kind of problems but will now not work with APFS drives. Any way to fix? I do have a Carbon Copy clone that I have been running of the startup drive every 4 days but on an external HFS drive. Need hel, have been using Mac since 1985 in my former business and now in retirement always with, until now, the ability to recover.

If what @Eau Rouge suggests does not work to repair APFS, then you will need to erase the whole physical drive. The physical drive is hidden from view with recent versions of Disk Utility. This Apple article shows how to reveal the physical drive within Disk Utility:

After erasing the whole physical drive you can then restore from a backup or clone.

Before doing this I would highly recommend running DriveDx to check the health of the hard drive. Post the DriveDx report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.

To be able to make repairs to your internal drive you need to boot to your Recovery HD

and use Disk Utility, click on View in the menubar and select Show All Devices.

Run First Aid on all Disks and Volumes one at a time.

If any report errors run First Aid until the errors clear and you get the green tick.

You could also try a Safe Mode start which also runs disk repairs,
