Create Bootable Drive

I have just purchased a Hagibis hub with a 2TB SATA drive and I need to make it my main drive. I found instructions on the Macworld website but I find them complicated and hard to understand. Can anybody help with simple instructions on how to transfer my internal drive to the external SATA drive or point me towards easy to understand steps by step instructions (video would be helpful) on how to do that?

Mac mini, macOS 11.1

The simplest way is to reformat the external drive to Mac OS Extended (apparently it is HDD spinning drive?) or APFS (if it happens to be a faster SSD), both GUID partition. Buy Carbon Copy Cloner (*) and use it to clone the internal disk to the external. Set external as the Startup disk and continue booting from it. Then you might use the old internal disk as a backup disk. (*) I am just a satisfied very-long-time CCC customer.
