HD movie problems on iPod

I have bought a movie from iTunes a long time ago, probably early-2020. The only problem is I can't sync it to my iPod because it's HD, and iPod Classics (I have a 5th gen) can't play HD video. How do I get the movie onto my iPod? By the way, it's not any old .mp4 file so I can't put it through QuickTime or HandBrake to lower the quality as it was bought through iTunes.

I really wish this was not so difficult and time consuming. I'd really like a fix here.

inabliity to play purchased movie from itunes on ipod nano 7 I have purchased a movie from apple tv but cannot sync it to my ipod nano 7th gen. The message says it cannot be played on this nano. I have setting to sd and quality to good. Still comes up with the same message. Can you please help?

You may be able to redownload an SD version through iTunes by changing your download preferences, but even them some of them download with a bitrate that is too high for older devices.
