How can I Clear Hard drive memory

HI, Success but it was much easier. As I was reformatting a thumb drive to MacOS, for the bootable external, I saw on the Disk Utility that it would let me erase data on the Mac HD - Data . For some reason there were 2 HD- Datas. The first one was greyed out but the 2nd one let me delete the shadow data and it worked!, took only a few seconds too.

Too bad that I didn't know to look there in the first place, too obvious and easy I guess. Thanks for your help. I learned a lot.

Thanks, yes my mistake, I did look in storage and saw the "shadow" memory there, but wrote it down incorrectly. I don't want to buy another software now. Just spent so much money. Do you know what the terminal command would be tohakns clear it out?

I already did this exactly as instructed. It did wipe all visible files and reinstalled as I previously wrote. This is what I see in the Storage tab.

As I wrote there is NOTHING on the computer except the basic install for Catalina 10.15.7

How can I clear out this "shadow" ?

How is that done?

Since the storage shows it as a Shadow memory, will new files overwrite these shadows or is the available memory really only small amount shown? So in actuality Adobe lies, one can't really clean install as instructed.
