My Netflix won't open on AppleTV

We had the same problem, we tried restarting the Apple TV, deleting and reinstalling Netflix and none of them worked. However we found out we had a Apple TV software update and haven’t updated in a while. Once we updated the Apple TV itself the Netflix app worked again. Hope that helps.

Normally, if an app misbehaves, use these troubleshooting steps:

If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support

The blue dot next to the app name on the home screen denotes that the app has been updated since last use.

We had the same issue when we opened the applets to watch Netflix. Went to settings and did a manual system update. Took about 18 min total. And it worked. Like others above, the auto update was flagged on. Hope this helps others too.

Great! I updated Apple TV so Netflix will open and now AirPlay doesn't work. Who's running this clown show? Not sure who's rear end y'all have your heads lodged into but this is some short-buss-stuff we are dealing with here.

Ok. True there is an update pending to be installed in my 4K apple tv device where the Netflix app does not open but I CAN’T update the apple TV. I keep getting a message that the update was unsuccesful. I have two other apple TV’s and they updated fine. Same wifi, same everything. Can anyone help please?

My problem is that I can’t install and downlod the software update that appears in the apple TV. For some reason I have tired everything and the update won’t happen and I keep getting a message that the update was unsuccesful.

I understand perfectly. My problem is that the apple TV won’t update. I have tried eveything. I even connected it to another TV. It simply won’t update. I have called support and I have been waiting over an hour and nobody answers.

We have experienced the same issue, however, updating Apple TV and reloading Netflix has not resolved the problem. We had no difficulty last evening but tonight it does not work. We have checked our wifi, restarted Apple TV etc. and know that Netflix works fine on our iPad. Tried mirroring from the iPad but received a message to open the app on the Apple TV. Frustrating.

Checking for software updates and installing any needed worked! Even though I have automatic update, there was new update that hadn't been installed. Thank you for the hint.

I restarted the AppleTv and open Netflix, I starts to open but never gets to the splash screen with the logo. It just quits unexpectedly.

Netflix wont open . We deleted and downloaded.. there were no updates on our apple streaming.. still wont work called netflix said it was on apple's end

I have auto install on, how did you find the latest uninstalled update? and how do I check this?

In your Apple TV, main menu, go to setting (gear), in settings go to “system”, in system to to “software updates.”
