I'm running Mojave 10.14.6 and wish to Upgrade to Big Sur. After selecting "Software Update" it starts to download Big Sur (12.2 GB). Upon completion the following error message appears: appears: "The update couldn't be verified". I hoped at least to find the downloaded file which is /Applications/Install/macOS_Big_Sur.app but it's not there.
Can anybody help me to solve this problem?

Your download was corrupted. All you can do is try again.
Backup your data before installing.
Make sure all your software is compatible with Big Sur.

One thing to keep in mind. If you are trying to download over a public WiFi, it has a greater chance of getting corrupted.

I'm going over Ethernet and I don't think to have any corruptions.
Secondly, I understand the compatibility requirements, but I'm not at that point. The issue is just the download of Big Sur.
I tried it three times.
Are there any other methods to download Big Sur?
