iOS Markup Highlighter Seems Suboptimal. A quick switch could improve it drastically.
I am invested in using an apple pencil and Apple's newest features. I feel like Markup's Highlighter option performs more of a "cover" operation than highlight. Unless I accidentally messed up a setting.
When I use the highlighter, it appears that a layer of yellow is added with a "blend" photo manipulation operation.
This rarely "highlights" as well as it could. In fact it dulls more than highlights.
Proposal:
1) change the color tone of the yellow used if possible. The RGB of the current yellow is different than real world highlighter yellow, which is brighter.
2) change the photo operation that is used when the highlighter applies. Right now it appears as if it they took the marker tool (with it's normal behaviors) and fixed it to yellow and called it a highlighter.
Instead of the standard marker functionality, a common blending algorithm would most likely result in a "highlighter" effect. Common algorithms such as "Multiply" and "Dodge" might provide a better effect.
Thank you for listening.
