If you're just not sure how to change that in system preferences, it's System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General

Thank you for your input. However I have used this solution until I am blue in the face without result. I have an iMac that sits beside my MacBook and has the same settings but it behaves as it should and does not require the password. Hence my post to the community. Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
