Since ATT uses the same password for all their accounts did they want my password for my wireless and Directv act.?I never ever changed my password for mail. now they want you to have a "secure" key. but will not accept my user name and password.

How can I get a "secure" key if they will not accept my present user name and password. can't receive or send mail in Mac mail,...but works fine in Google and Yahoo. I want to use Mac mail.

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 10.15

I would suggest contacting ATT for clarification. It may be that they are asking for some type of 2 factor authentication based on your comment about a "secure key" which is becoming more common to access Internet accounts.
