Timer to shut off charging

I wish that the Clock app would make provision to shut off charging either at at the end of a period of time or better yet when charging has proceeded to say 80 or 85 or 90% of charge. Apple suggests stopping charging before 100%. How about helping me to do that. As it is I have to guess how many minutes of charge I need to get up to 85%, I also have to hear the alarm, and if I start charging as I'm going to sleep, I really don't want to set an alarm to wake me so I can disconnect the charging cable. I just want charging to stop at a percent of charge that I've determined. Automagically!

I see that you have iOS 14 installed on your iPhone (Your Profile). I recommend that you turn ON Optimized Battery Charging in Settings ➔ Battery ➔ Battery Health and forget about stopping the charge at 80% or any percentage. The software and hardware on your iPhone will manage the charge levels for a safe charging process. No matter what you do, the Battery Health will deteriorate as time elapses. This applies to all modern cell phone batteries today. I recommend that you charge whenever you want and as long as want and let the iPhone manage it. Begin enjoying your iPhone rather than worrying about battery charging since you know that the battery health will deteriorate over time.

IMO, the main 2 things you want to do with regards to charging.. is not to let your charge level go down below ~20% and as Axel mentions, make sure the switch for Optimized Charging is turned on. I believe one of the things that is hard on the batteries is a fast charge all the way up to 100%. So having this switch turned on will attempt to learn your habits and manage the charge after it reaches 80%.

I charge my phone to 100% daily (I leave it plugged in overnight, every night).. My last 2 phones still had 100% battery health after a year when trading in.

When to charge your iPhone or iPad - Apple Community

I cannot cite a text by Apple which says I should not charge to 100%.

I think I got the impression from articles by Apple and others that fully charging to 100% and discharging to fully discharged are bad for the battery. In December, 2019 I had the batteries replaced by Apple in both my own and my wife's 6S iPhones. My own battery was down to 70% of design capacity at time of replacement. My new battery shows 90% of design capacity. I've been trying to get maximum life out of this battery and this iPhone because of economy. My phone is worth nothing for trade-in and yet it does all the things I want a phone to do. Well, with the exception of camera. The newer iPhones have far superior cameras. There is nothing else that the newer features offer to me that is of particular value.
