I just went from an iPhone 6s to an XR.
My new iPhone didn’t transfer some contacts and contact info. Those contacts ARE all on my iPad though. Can I somehow synchronized them? Signed someone who doesn’t understand iCloud. Thanks.

They do not transfer ftom one device to another. (Unless you forced them onto the ipad device only.)
They are out there in the cloud (on some server somewhere in the world)
You just need to point the device to them in Settings
iPad Settings, Contacts, Accounts
Tap on each account and see if Contacts are on (green) for any other accounts than iCloud. If they are then add the same accounts to iphone.
Try to get both devices Contact settings identical

It worked! There was an account in my iPad (Outlook) that wasn’t in iPhone. So I added and it and BOOM there were the rest of my contacts. I can’t thank you enough. 😀😀.

If iPad has more contacts then maybe iPad settings includes another account?
Thank you! I’ve been on the phone with Apple and they had me reset erase all content and settings. Then when phone was rebooting, I had my iPad right next to it. I was hopeful, but the contacts didn’t transfer. I went into iPad settings. I have the same ID for both, but how do I check for another account? Thanks again.
