Trouble doing clean install of El Capitan
I have an old Macbook air that I'm trying to do a clean install of the system software (El Capitan) on. I erased the hard drive, booted in recovery mode, went to reinstall the system software and got the following error after downloading was finished:
"OS X could not be installed on your computer
No packages were eligible for install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again."
After looking around the forums I saw that the way around this is to set the date to mid-2017 via the terminal. I did that, went to Reinstall OS X, and now after it says
"To download and restore OS X, your computer's eligibility will be verified with Apple."
I click continue and then get,
"An error occurred while preparing installation. Try running this application again."
So I'm stuck unable to install the system. I also tried installing from internet recovery, but got an error there too.
