Transfer complete iTunes library from one PC to another

How do I transfer my entire iTunes library (songs, album artwork, playlists, star ratings, play count, etc.) from one pc to another? I was able to back up my music to an external hard drive and then transfer to my new pc laptop, but all of my song star ratings and playlists are gone... is there a way to retrieve that info?

Perhaps you should try again. The key component of the library is the iTunes Library.itl database. This is were star ratings and playlists reside. If you have to import media on the new computer you've done something wrong. Either the database from your old computer replaces the one on the new computer (you have the library in the standard location of <User's Music>\iTunes) or you use the shift-start-iTunes method to connect to the migrated database on its new path wherever you have chosen that to be.
