Saving Space:

Saving space would most certainly speed things up. What to consider deleting:

  • Unneeded Items (i.e. iTunes Movies, TV Shows, and Music)
  • Extremely Large Files (i.e. Virtual Machines)
  • Clear: Temporary Internet Files (cookies and cache).
  • Empty: the Trash

Hi Robert I Edelman,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I see you want to make your iMac faster. What exactly are you having trouble with?

Also, in order for us here to have a detailed view of your computer and its limitations, I believe we need to proceed with an EtreCheck report. EtreCheck is a useful app to diagnose issues, both hardware and software. Please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to the Mac App Store and search for "EtreCheck."
  2. Download it. It is a free and trusted app; as it is on the Mac App Store, and only trusted apps can be submitted.
  3. Run the report, and put it in a post, as seen here - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211

I look forward to your reply.

Cheers,

Jack
