Airplay device code input disappears too quickly

Trying to screen mirror from my M1 Mac mini to my Apple TV 4K. Every time I try to connect I get asked for an Airplay Device Code which shows up on my Apple TV display.

Now they are NOT in the same room & as fast as I try to activate screen mirroring on my Mac, run through an upstairs hallway, run down a flight of stairs - through a downstairs hallway and into the room with the Apple TV, get the code, run back through the house to get to the Mac to enter the stupid code..... the code request box disappears just as I get to the keyboard - AARRGGHH! Without setting up a remote camera system so that I can see the code in time, or breaking the law during the current covid lockdown & getting someone in the house to shout the code to me, there is NO WAY I can get the code entered in time.

Is there ideally a way to disable the whole stupid code system completely, or a way to increase the time it takes for the dialogue box to 'timeout'.

Have you always experienced this behavior after moving your devices further apart? Have you been able to mirror the screen successfully since moving the devices? We want to make sure that the devices aren't too far apart if using Wi-Fi. Take a look at these helpful articles that go over setting up device mirroring and what to do if you encounter issues:

If you continue to run in to issues, we'd like to try something. As a test, let us know if the same thing happens with the code input box disappearing if you move the devices closer together and trying to mirror the screens, but not inputting the code. This will help us determine if the reason it goes away is due to losing connection.
