Paper Clip not working - have to drag files to attach them.

Any idea why the paper clip function will not work in outlook? I can add documents by dragging them. I had the same problem in an online chat as well so seems to be a problem with my system rather than Outlook per se.

Any suggestions welcome!

To get started, we suggest trying to Attach photos, links, and more in Notes on Mac. What you experience will illustrate whether the issue is specific to an app, a user account, or another root cause.
If you're unable to add an attachment in the Notes app, then we suggest following these steps to test what occurs when in safe mode and another user account: How to use safe mode on your Mac.
If you can add an attachment in the Notes app, then check for the latest version of Outlook, and install any available updates. Try to add an attachment again to test the outcome.
