New Mac Mini with M1 chip using Logic Pro x - Constant cpu overload

Hey there,

I've just switched my setup from a 2018 Mac mini 32gb of ram to a newer M1 with 16gb of ram and I'm struggling to work on Logic Pro X with the same project size I used to have... The Cpu is jumping and the whole thing is acting really weirdly performance wise. I've seen all the videos and comments on how this new chip was so more powerful than the Intel one and decided to jump on this boat but now I'm really frustrated on how things worked out on my side.. I constantly have to freeze every track I'm working on the be able to mix my project... The other weird is that when I bounce the project (not in real time) I don't have any problem doing it, no overload at this point.

I'm running the Logic Pro X previous version (10,5,1) since a couple plugins I used seems to be only working on this version. So not the new version 10,6 version.

Another precision, I'm using a Usb audio interface now (Scarlett Solo 3rd gen) since my main one Clarett 4pre Thunderbolt is not compatible at this time.

Any idea what could be the problem, could it be a faulty unit? Please help!!!!

Did you ever get a solution to this? I too have been experiencing extremely vexacious CPU problems with my M1 Mini, with a very light load. Even just trying to live process two separate Noise Gates (native) right now is giving me that nasty CPU crunch. I first noticed the problem with my Waves plugins, but I figured that was a rosetta/compatibility issue, and the price we pay for early adoption. This is just bizarre - this M1 chip with 8gb isn't able to handle a task that my 2012 Mini could handle with both hands tied behind it's back. Where else are you looking for solutions?

I too am having this issue with Native Instruments plugins and Omnisphere, Keyscape. One sound loaded up and click and pops and cut outs? Anyone have a solution. Everything seemed to be working well until recently and now none of the pluggins are playable unless they are a native logic plugin. Tried starting in Rossetta mode..no help. Same issues in Mainstage, Komplete Kontrol and Logic.
