I need to down load the swift playground app to my IPad Pro but it requires a later iOS version than what I have. How do I go back to an earlier version¿

You can't go back.

As far as I know all iPad Pro's support iPadOS 14.3

Enough for installing The Swift Playground App.

Unless it's not a Pro model that You have.
