iCloud on iphones

You are confusing a calendar APP with a calendar DATABASE. All calendar apps on iPhones use the same database(s). The reason you see an iCloud calendar database is because you created one when you set up your phone. But you could also have chosen many other databases, such as gmail, yahoo, AOL, Microsoft (Outlook), MS Exchange, or yet another one hosted on a server of your choice - or you could have chosen NO database to sync to.

Go to Settings/Calendar/Accounts and tap on Add Account to see the options. Although iCloud and Microsoft are the only ones that are private: that is, only you can see their contents. So if you want to sync to a cloud database choose iCloud or Outlook.

But if you just want a calendar on your phone that doesn’t sync to any cloud database just turn off the Calendar setting in any cloud services you get email from. There will still be a calendar database on the phone that isn’t shared with any cloud server.

Can you explain more your question?

If you go in your iCloud settings. (Settings/Your name at the top of the screen/iCloud) you can choose not to sync your calendar there.

if you go directly to the settings of Calendar, it just ask you to choose how far back you want the events to be sync and it is not where you mark Calendar to not sync.

Is this why maybe there was a confusion?

You are not forced to use the Calendar app.

Download a different one.

You are not forced to sync calendars to iCloud calendars. Where did you find that nonsensical information?
